The city, lain at the south west of Slovenia, has the largest port of the country. Important economic activities of this city are the car industry & the wine production.
In spite of the fact that this city has a lot of industry, the city has some splendid buildings. On the centre square, there stand buildings which are more than 500 years old. The town hall, former The Praetorian Palace, is notable by its high balcony and big towers. The city count also a Gothic building called ‘Loggia’ & the St Nazarius cathedral.
