Maribor
The second largest city of the country, Maribor situated at the east of Slovenia where the river the Drava flows through the city. You find the city almost 20km of the border with Austria.
On the Glavni square you find the Maria pillar which does remind the city to the plague epidemic of the 17th century. Beside the Maria pillar, which is sometimes called the’ plague pillar’, is the castle of Maribor a splendid curiosity. You can visit the splendid stairs house & beautiful wall paintings. In front of the castle you can admire the liberate monument.
The old port district which was renovated more than 20 years ago, is also worth a visit. There stands the water tower or the Vodni stolp where you can taste now the wines of Slovenia. Around the city the wine production is an important source of income for many inhabitants.

Every year in Maribor they keep a multicultural summer festival. On surrounding Pohorje-mountain you find many skiers in the winter.
